"I am running again to see if I can help Town Council and our residents understand that we are all in this together in trying to help the town adapt to a changing local government environment, and that because of a limited tax base and a moribund CBD, the town has to increasingly rely on Federal and State funded grants to operate government. While local government did not rely on thoses grant options in the past, when the town was somewhat self-sufficient financially with a robust tax base prior to 1960's, those days are not in Bloomsburg's future. Note how the recent decline in BU's enrollment decline affected rental units after what seemed to be a "rosey future" for this College town!
This new situation requires the TC to be not only transparent but also willing to "give" and change when its residents "complain?" that TC needs to change its "course" on issues like bike paths, pocket parks, airports, etc. and consultant plans plucked seemingly out of thin air with limited input from residents. - Curmudgeon Jim H."
