Kovach, 69, is a lifelong resident of Berwick. He spent many years working as a union brick mason.
Kovach has been a County Commissioner since 2004. He is currently responsible for overseeing, in whole or in part, 29 different departments, and a $34 million budget.
Kovach helped guide the county through 2 of the largest floods in county history, (2006 & 2011), as well as the Covid-19 pandemic. He was instrumental in the construction of floodwalls which protect hundreds of local jobs and residents. Through the distribution of Covid Relief Funds, many local organizations and municipalities were able to complete necessary improvement projects.
Kovach was influential in the improvements to the 9-1-1 Communications Center.
Kovach worked with LCCC and BU to provide lower cost opportunities for county residents.
Dave supports Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, and FFA. He is also a founding member of AGAPE and Volunteers in Medicine.
Dave and his wife, Janet, have been married for 44 years. They have 2 children, Christopher and Natasha, and 6 grandchildren.
