The Presidential Contest

BETWEEN NOW AND THE PRIMARY ELECTION OF APRIL 28TH OF 2020 THERE WILL BE MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO HEAR, READ ABOUT AND CHOOSE WHO YOU THINK WILL BE THE BEST CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT. PRESIDENT OBAMA HAS GIVEN SOME GOOD ADVICE ON THIS IMPORTANT SUBJECT.

“Everybody needs to chill out about the candidates, but gin up about the prospect of rallying behind,” a candidate.

“There will be differences” among the candidates, Mr. Obama said, but the ultimate goal “is to defeat a president and a party that has, I think, taken a sharp turn away from a lot of the core traditions and values and institutional commitments that built this country.”

AS OF THIS TIME MANY DEMOCRATS ARE COMPETING FOR YOUR VOTE  WE WILL LIST THEM ALPHABETICALLY  WITH PHOTOS, A BRIEF DESCRIPTION AND FURTHER CONTACT INFORMATION.

JOE BIDEN

"We’re  in a battle for the soul of America. It’s time to remember who we are.  We’re Americans: tough, resilient, but always full of hope. It’s time to  treat each other with dignity. Build a middle class that works for  everybody. Fight back against the incredible abuses of power we’re  seeing. It’s time to dig deep and remember that our best days still lie  ahead.  ”    —Joe Biden (April 2019)

MICHAEL BLOOMBERG

image23

I’ve run for  office three times and won each time, in no small part because I’ve  never stuck my finger in the wind to decide what I should believe. It’s  not who I am, nor do I think it’s what voters want in a leader. They  want someone who levels with them, even when they disagree, and who is  capable of offering practical, sensible, and ambitious ideas — and of  solving problems and delivering results.   ”    —Michael Bloomberg (March 2019)

PETE BUTTIGIEG

Born: January 19, 1982 (age 37 years), South Bend, IN
Nationality: American
Full name: Peter Paul Mo

I'm running  because the decisions we make in the next three or four years are going  to decide how the next 30 or 40 go. And when I get to the current age of  the current president in the year 2055 I want to be able to look back  on these years and say my generation delivered climate solutions, racial  equality and an end to endless war."   ”    —Pete Buttigieg (June 2019)

TULSI GABBARD

image24

I will bring  this soldier's principles to the White House, restoring the values of  dignity, honor and respect to the presidency and above all else, love  for our people and love for our country.   —Tulsi Gabbard (February 2019)

AMY KLOBUCHAR

We need  someone that has people's back. We also need someone that can win. And I  have won in these red districts. I win in the Midwest. I can win in  states like Wisconsin and Michigan and Iowa. I also will do my job  without fear or favor, just like I did as a prosecutor, and get through  the gridlock like I've done as a senator, where I've passed over 100  bills where I've been the lead Democrat.   ”    —Amy Klobuchar (July 2019)

BERNIE SANDERS

image26

Our campaign  is about transforming our country and creating a government based on the  principles of economic, social, racial and environmental justice.[1]   ”    —Bernie Sanders (April 2019)

TOM STEYER

image27

America faces  many crises right now––the environment, gun violence, opioids, even our  Constitution. It's clear that business as usual isn't working. Our next  president must be prepared to rebuild our democracy.   —Tom Steyer (June 2019)

ELIZABETH WARREN

Every person  in America should be able to work hard, play by the same set of rules,  & take care of themselves & the people they love. That’s what  I’m fighting for, & that’s why I’m launching an exploratory  committee for president.   ”    —Elizabeth Warren (December 2018)
